However, the girl’s team is on fire this year after losing only one (the first one) 4x800M Relay this year and copping the first MILO Junior Grand Prix in the process. The girl’s team includes Kimberley Brown, Neisha Morris, Charlene Brown and Natoya Goule on anchor.
Manchester will compete in the 4x100M, 4x400M and the 4x800M in the girl’s section and the 4x100M in the boys section. All the girl’s team are expected to do well even if they do not all win gold. There is hope that the boys will give a good showing, as well. The boy’s team will be led by Brandon Tomlinson who copped the 100M title in the boys section of the inaugural MILO Junior Grand Prix.
Manchester High School will be sending a strong team of 20 Athletes to compete in the 115th staging of the Penn Relays which will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, getting on the way April 24-25th , 2009. Manchester has always performed well at this meet. Some of the other Athletes to look out for are Shanna Gaye Tracey – 400M Hurdler and flat 400M, Sandrea Farqueharson and Orinthia Bennett.The Team’s 2008 Performance is summarized below:
- GOLD - 4x800M Championship of America Relay for high school boys. All four members of the team received gold watches. Additionally, the team received a plaque for their 1st Place finish. Alwayne Green (anchor leg runner) was named the High School Boys' Athlete of the meet in relay events after leading Manchester to victory in the 4x800M relay with a come-from-behind final leg. The team also received a plaque for winning its Heat.
- SILVER - 4x400M Championship of America Relay for high school girls. 4th - 4x800M Championship of America Relay for high school girls.
The team earned a plaque for winning its Heat after posting the fastest time. - GOLD - 4x100M consolation relay for high school girls.
