Manchester High School student, 16-year-old Sheri-An Peckham strikes gold in the recent CSEC exams, and is among the students with the highest scores at her school.
Sheri-Ann's goal was to sit 13 subjects, however, after a meticulous search, her schedule would only allow her to do twelve subjects.
The subjects were Methematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social Studies, Human and Social Biology, Information Technology, French, Spanish, Principles of Business and Principles of Accounts.
No surprise on her results as Sheri-Ann since early childhood displayed exceptional academic qualities. Her grade six teacher at Belair Preparatory still does not understand why she was not awarded a Government Scholarship then after gaining a 96% average in the GSAT examination.
Now with CSEC's out of the way, Sheri-Ann is intent on working toward achieving her dream of becoming a Medical Doctor. Her motto is "All things are possible if you depend on God". Amidst her rigorous study schedule is Sheri-Ann's passion for people. She is friendly, helpful and full of concern for her friends. She does not hesitate to assist them with their schoolwork. This petite child prodigy is a devoted Seventh-day Adventist Christian.
In an interview with her mother, Ms. Dorette Nelson, Senior Vice Principal at Manchester High School, she pointed out that Sheri-Ann's greatest gift is her humility. She refuses to be the focus of attention and resists being praised or highlighted. She is highly disciplined and organized individual who meticulously systematizes every aspect of her life. She preaches at her church and is heavily involved in youth activities. In the height of exam pressures, Sheri-Ann will conclude her studying and stop to read her bible and pray for God's intervention in the imminent challenge.
Sheri-Ann is also an avid reader. She reads everything. Nothing is too trivial or too complex to be read. Whatever she reads, she analyzes, whatever she analyzes she quickly applies.
An unusually sweet tale buzzes at Manchester High School. It is said that Sheri-Ann's career path does not include business subjects. However, she challenged herself to master Principles of Business and Principles of Accounts because her mother currently teaches them at Manchester High School.

"After all", she said, "if my mother teaches...how can I not take and pass her subjects in CSEC?"
This she did ... and proudly accomplished.
Sheri-Ann is the pride and joy of her loving family and, of course, her school family at Manchester High. Everyone who has assisted her development beams with pride as her successes are reflected in their work. Her next hurdle is to begin lower sixth form. The sky is the limit for this student, who undoubtedly has the next course of her life well charted.
Sheri-Ann Peckham - a paragon of excellence at Manchester High School.
